Get in Your Head: The Brain Training Webinar
The brain is an incredibly complex organ responsible for everything you’re thinking – and everything you aren’t. Even though the brain does a lot, understanding how to take care of it isn’t always common knowledge. Watch the latest webinar from The Break Room, our exclusive series for Premise Health members, which will help you step into the mental gym and learn what it takes to train your brain.
During “Get in Your Head: Strength Training for Your Brain,” Licensed Professional Counselor, Kate Lifferth, discusses the importance of keeping your brain in good shape through working out your mental cognition and training your neuroplasticity. You’ll learn about what the science says behind brain training and play some games to get your brain active. In the Premise Health spirit of whole-person, comprehensive care, Kate also discusses the other parts of a healthy lifestyle that help promote brain health.
Fun ways to train your brain
While the term “brain health” may sound serious and complex, a lot that goes into keeping your brain active centers around play.
In addition to living a healthy lifestyle with the six pillars of health (sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress management, socialization and avoiding risky substances), you can play games and do certain activities that help retain brain cells and the connections between those cells.
From crossword puzzles to playing sports, to learning a new instrument or cooking a new recipe, there are so many different ways to incorporate some fun in your day for your brain. Basically, when you step out of your comfort zone to try new things, break out of your routine and work your brain in different ways, you can strengthen your memory, attention span and overall mental cognition.
During our webinar, we focus on enhancing the different parts of mental cognition, like memory, attention span, logic and problem solving and others, through games and fun challenges.
