About Morris Landau
Morris Landau is the Privacy Officer at Premise Health. Prior to joining Premise, Morris was the Privacy Officer at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and prior to his position at UT Southwestern, he served as a Privacy Officer and counsel at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

As the Privacy Officer at UT Southwestern and St Jude, he provided leadership and oversight for all privacy and security-related activities. He wrote the HIPAA privacy policies and procedures for institutions as well as ensured that these institutions were compliant with all HIPAA regulations and state laws which affected patient privacy and security.

Prior to joining St. Jude, Morris served as a Health Policy Analyst with the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), Office of Policy and Research, in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining ONC, Morris served as the first HIPAA Privacy Specialist in the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in Dallas, Texas, and in New York City, where he specialized in HIPAA enforcement and in drafting HIPAA OCR internal policies as well as provided HIPAA technical assistance and outreach to various health care entities.

Morris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication with honors and a Bachelor of Arts in History with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law in 1992. In 2000, Morris received his Master in Health Administration from the University of Memphis. In 2001, he received a Master of Laws in Health Law from the University of Houston Law Center. Morris has written several articles on diverse health law topics and has given many lectures to a variety of groups, including government agencies, health care entities, and health care attorneys, and has served as a Master in Health Administration program as a guest lecturer and instructor.
