Premise Health and Pella Corporation talk strategy behind employee wellness center with HR Brew
In the HR Brew article, “Why one Iowa-based company opened a primary care clinic near its office,” Pella Corporation CHRO John Bollman and Premise Health COO Beth Ratliff spoke about the recent opening of the Pella wellness center and offered insights on why employers are investing in onsite or nearsite clinics.
“Many people actually don’t take advantage and have a primary care physician,” said John Bollman, Pella’s CHRO. “We’re making it convenient, easy for our team members to be able to take advantage” of these services, he told HR Brew.
In 2024, Pella began working on a long-term strategy to improve the overall health and wellness of their people, specifically aimed at enhancing healthcare experiences and delivering cost savings for them and the company. After years of consideration, they decided now was the right time to invest in an on- or near-site health clinic.
Pella and Premise partnered to design the facility and benefits strategy behind it, finishing the center in less than a year. Data from 2,500 Pella employees led the companies to the decision that a nearsite wellness center featuring Premise’s advanced primary care model would meet the needs of Pella’s population. The center has a dedicated care team delivering whole-person care that is easily accessible with same- or next-day appointments available onsite or virtually.
Premise COO Beth Ratliff shared that the intent behind Premise’s advanced primary care model is to address workers’ physical, mental, and social health needs in a way that’s both high touch and high tech. She added that the convenience of being able to schedule appointments onsite or virtually, “removes the friction that sometimes is associated with a member trying to get care.”
