Joey Johnson Named CISO of the Year

joeyBRENTWOOD, Tenn. – February 8, 2017 – Premise Health congratulates Chief Information Security Officer Joey Johnson for being named 2017 CISO of the Year by the Nashville Technology Council.

Nominees for the Nashville Technology Council’s CISO of the Year award must have demonstrated leadership in their field, improved the security of their organization’s data and technology resources, created a security-conscious culture, and delivered value to the organization. Commitment to the technology community was also an important aspect of the award, which was sponsored by Microsoft.

“It’s a dynamic time to work in health care cybersecurity, and I consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by strong team members who are as committed as I am to building a culture of true security as we expand our footprint across the country,” said Johnson. “Through an organization-wide dedication to innovative health care solutions, Premise Health is changing the way health care is being delivered and leading the way in building smarter, more secure networks to maintain health care data.”

Johnson has served as Chief Information Security Officer for Premise Health and it’s predecessor since 2010. Prior to joining Premise Health, he was Chief Security Officer for the United States Department of Commerce, Office of Computer Services. He has nearly 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, including leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, with a focus on organizations in the federal government, information technology, health care and transportation industries.

At Premise Health, a national provider of employer-sponsored health programs with nearly 600 centers in 45 states, Guam and Puerto Rico, Johnson is responsible for leading all organizational efforts related to security operations and engineering; information technology and security compliance; identity access management; policy development; security audit; and vendor risk management to meet challenging security and compliance demands.

“We are proud to have an outstanding leader like Joey in our organization and are honored that his dedication to information security is being recognized by the Nashville Technology Council. At Premise Health, we believe much of the future of health care depends on communicating important data in a secure, compliant way. We are extremely appreciative of the contributions of Joey’s entire team to our organization, as well as to the larger Nashville tech community,” said Stu Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Premise Health.

Johnson maintains an active leadership presence in the health care cybersecurity industry through participation in numerous advisory and steering committees, including with the National Health Information Sharing & Analysis Center (NH-ISAC), the E-Health Initiative’s privacy & security program, various cyber investment advisory boards, threat intelligence and sharing groups, and private/public sector partnerships.

Recently, Johnson was also recognized by the Tech Exec Network (T.E.N.) as a finalist for the Information Security Executive (ISE®) Southeast Awards. The award will be announced in March.
